This year WRD events were conducted by encompassing public campaigns on theme of 2021 WRD, COVID-19 and Mental Health, various competitions on Sport and Drawing Skills, plantation of seedlings, coffee discussions, multicultural shows, Award Ceremonies and others. These all events were concurrently held in Tongo, Gure-Shembola, Bambasi, Tsore and Sherkole Refugee Camps.
The WRD Main Ceremony Program at the Assosa Operation Level was conducted on 18th of June 2021 at Sherkole Refugee Camp. The ceremony was chaired by UNHCR and ARRA and was attended heads of UNHCR, ARRA, Operational and Implementing Partners, Members of Refugee Central Committees (RCCs).
In addition, numerous socio-cultural activities animated by refugee groups as well as recreational activities and competitions for youths took place over this main WRD ceremony. The roles of ANE in the 2021 WRD Preparation and Events in all camps by assisting both UNHCR and ARRA were so magnificent.
ANE was able to make significant contribution by availing 150 T-Shirts, 500 Packed 1 Liter Water Bottles, 14 Big Sizes Posters and by installation of Temporary Shades to accommodate the WRD Main Events undertaken in all camps.
